The Moon

The moon is the only satellite which rotates around our planet and it takes 28 days to completely go around the Earth. It has a rotation movement, which means it turns around its own axis, and also a revolution movement , which is to say, it revolves around Earth.

When we observe it during a period of time it appears to change shape. These changes are called the lunar phases and they repeat every 28 days. They are four phases: Full moon, first quarter, new moon and third quarter. These lunar phases are produced due to two reasons; the moment of moon around the Earth and because the moon reflects light from the sun.

Our satellite is 385,000 kilometers away from Earth and a rocket takes three days to reach it.
